WEEKEND REFLECTION

Joshua charged the people (in Joshua 24:15b) to, “choose this day whom you will serve…” 

I think two very helpful words in that command is “this day”. Joshua was urging his people to commit to serving the Lord. And there was urgency in his words! It is folly to think that we will one day serve the Lord, or that we will serve the Lord tomorrow. We must choose to serve him today! 

And there is also a sense in which we choose every day whom we will serve. Today, you will make a choice. And the day will reflect that choice. Let’s heed Joshua’s admonition to put away idols and choose to serve the living God today. Only he is worthy of our affection and worship. Only he is worthy of our today! 

With our eyes on Christ, and all of our hope in the gospel, let us choose to serve God today. 

 

PRAY

For the month of May 2024 we will be using passages from the book of Ephesians each day to guide our prayers. 

Ephesians 1:19

“and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might” 

• Thank God for his "immeasurable greatness!" Take some time to praise and adore him in prayer remembering that he is infinite in all of of his ways.
• Thank God for showing his power in our life and bringing you to himself. 
• Ask God to continue to work in the lives of others and in yourself to make you more like Christ and strengthen your faith.

You can also take some time bring these things before the Lord. 

• Confess your sins. 
• The Lost 
• Your Needs
